DARKANE: 'Studio' Video Diary Part 5 Available
April 3, 2008Guitarist Christofer Malmstrm of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:
"Welcome to the fifth video blog post. Thanks to you who have followed us so far!
"This post differs a little from earlier posts since I got so tired of us being filmed in the same room over and over, so I decided to take our great camera guy Per out to show you what our hometown Helsingborg looks like.
"If you are a fan of DARKANE/ SOILWORK/ THE DEFACED/ TERROR 2000 or any other Helsingborg-based band you might enjoy seeing what the streets look like where we wandered around as teenagers dreaming of playing the big stages. So this is not an ordinary video blog post with us working in the studio. More studio footage will come up soon for sure. And... if you see anything in my car that is not metal... I can only blame my wife!
"I have multiple reasons to celebrate right now! A few days ago my lovely wife Jennie gave birth to our second daughter who we'll name Amanda. Today I also played my last notes on the album.
"I met Peter [Wildoer, drums] in the studio and together we recorded my last four solos on the album.
"Peter is the best solo producer there is. He comes up with great ideas when I get stuck playing the ordinary licks or scales. I think what we came up with for this album is really good!
"Jens [Broman, vocals] is back in Stockholm now, Jrgen [Lfberg, bass] is working as an engineer to start up a factory in Iran, I change diapers and Peter and Klas [Ideberg, guitar] are preparing the mix of the album."

DARKANE played its first show with new singer Jens Broman (CONSTRUCDEAD, THE DEFACED) in November 2007 at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. According to Christofer Malmstrm, "Jens enjoyed every second of the show, and so did the rest of us. Our former vocalist Andreas was in the audience to support us, and he was very postive afterwards... along with the rest of the crowd."
DARKANE's upcoming DVD was shot in May 2006 in the band's hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden.
DARKANE has been confirmed for Chicago Powerfest 2008. The sixth annual metal festival will take place on Friday/Saturday, May 2-3, at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL. There will also be an official Powerfest "kick-off" show on May 1, featuring ENSIFERUM, TURISAS, TYR and ELUVEITIE, who will be making a stop along their Paganfest tour.
